The Church has Left the Building. Like Jesus, we go where the People are. We don't expect them to come to us. We are here to share the really Great News that we are created and re-created by a Loving God of Grace and Mercy.

Matthew 25 Initiative

07/12/22

In October (2019), our session voted to officially register South as part of our denomination’s Matthew 25 ministry. This nationwide initiative focuses on actively engaging our faith in the world with the goals of building congregational vitality, dismantling structural racism and eradicating systemic poverty. South has a longstanding commitment to meeting people where they are and engaging in ministry that arises organically from the needs and desires of each community where we gather. The Matthew 25 initiative connects us to other congregations who also commit to doing the work of feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and imprisoned, and welcoming the stranger. South’s ongoing ministries that follow the Matthew 25 model include several of our Acts of Faith and has also created a Matthew 25 Study Group that meets, as needed.
