Members of the San Fernando Presbytery (one of four presbyteries serving Los Angeles County) will be in residence from March 28-31 as they explore our Acts of Faith Ministry. Along with visiting Back2Center, Food for Thought, New Life on Monroe, Fellowship of Faith, Monroe Milers, and Mt. Hope World Singers, our guests will review presentations on the AoF Model, the Community Learning Lab, and Firebird Spirit. Rev. Amy Fowler will host a dinner for them where a Q&A will take place about the best way(s) for presbyteries to support new models of ministry.
On Saturday afternoon (March 30) congregational leaders (Deacons, Elders, and AoF Leaders) will join the visitors in an informal conversation at the Elmwood Inn, exploring how members feel about this model, how South came to develop it, what attracts them to it, etc. Currently, there are 17 churches in SFP trying to discern where God is leading them in terms of their own future.
Our visitors will be bringing a videographer with them to memorialize the entire visit on videos to be shared with others back in LA. Part of their thanks to South will include copies of the edited videos that we will be able to use for other presentations around the country and on our Firebird Spirit website.
