"Put us where you want us, and show us what to do."

TMB – Thursday Morning Bible

MISSION | VISION | CALLING
More than a “Bible Study,” we are a “Bible Application Group” that welcomes all interpretations of Scripture as we believe the Holy Spirit leads us to the understanding we most need at any given time. Believing that “God alone is Lord of the Conscience,” noone’s interpretation and meaning carries more weight than anyone else’s, though we do use the historical critical method to understand WHO wrote it, WHEN and WHY was it written, and WHO was the intended audience. It is our Mission | Vision | Calling to share the excitement of Scripture with others through these discussions.
WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW
March 11, 2020
As of March 12, 2020, TMB has been suspended in response to COVID-19. We will resume our gathering as soon as possible, but in the meantime, we keep one another in prayer as we practice the social distancing our leaders suggest in order to protect the most vulnerable among us. For those of you who have your books – keep reading! – We will catch up in person as soon as we can, but, meanwhile, we can immerse ourselves in God’s story, remembering that God remains steadfast. No matter where we may find ourselves, God has already arrived to be present with us in joy and sorrow, in fear and courage.

February 20, 2020
TMB is launching in February of 2020, and although we meet in the Wellness Room of Cobbs Hill Manor, it is open to all who want to join us, regardless of their faith tradition, their previous experience with the Bible, and where they live.

Our first project – to give us a good sense of the entirety of Scripture – is reading The Story, a 31-chapter distillation of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, written by Max Lucado and Randy Frazee. The theology and experience of group members do not always agree with the authors’ perspectives, but we are finding that that prompts exciting (and growth-inspiring) conversation.

We hope that you will be intrigued enough to come and join us. We’ll have a chair waiting for you.
