HALLELUJAH! The COVID rates are dropping. We are resuming in-person AoF's as of 3/1/22.

SoutHeart Fellowship

Bringing the Good News to those who are short- or long-term patients in the civil units of RPC, we celebrate worship and a coffee hour with them twice a month.
January 2020
Christmas was a moving experience for SoutHeart attendees as we completed our Advent season and celebrated the Birth of Jesus on Christmas morning in the chapel. This year, welcoming new volunteers who ventured out for that service, led by our friend and colleague, Sr. Elain Hollis, SSJ.

As we look ahead to 2020, we will continue our by-weekly worship leadership in the Christian Coffee House where services include prayer, singing, and a lot of conversation based on scripture and theological questions arising from our reading and life.

Patients and volunteers are forming friendships that result in personal connections around common experiences, places they have lived, and more. And recently, one or former patients of the Forensic Unit have been discharged to the civil side of the hospital. What they experienced in Sonray Fellowship “up on the unit” is similar to what they experience now in SoutHeart Fellowship. There is a continuum of spiritual care developing through our two ministries.

We appreciate the volunteers that have joined us from two other congregations: Faith Temple and Community of the Savior. There’s always room for more!

Each one of us continues to be moved – and our own spirituality deepened – by our associations with these brothers and sisters. Their honest sharing of their thoughts and experiences lifts up the transcendent love of Christ to us all. It is not uncommon to hear patients share the role that prayer and faith have played in helping them throughout their treatment.

We hope that you will come and join us! And, short of that, that you will pray for this worshiping community as we seek to be the presence of a Loving Light in each person’s life.
